Mike Stephens discussing the importance of a patient whistle and three man coverage.
We would like to welcome all prospective College Officials from our High School Ranks to consider joining us this year at our 2014 edition of the N.E Collegiate Officiating Camp to be conducted on April 12th and 13th at the University Sports Complex in Hanover, Massachusetts. This camp has a segment which s specifically designed for the prospective Mens College Officials interested in pursuing Collegiate Basketball Officiating. The NECOC is committed to the training, development, exposure, and recruitment of the existing ECAC Division 3 College Officials, as well as, High School Officials and prospective candidates for future consideration to our ECAC Officiating Staff. This Camp is run in conjunction with the prestigious/elite "Northeast Hoops Festival", showcasing the finest high school player in the east. The camps mission is to provide Officials instruction, training, development, but more importantly, the exposure to the ECAC's Coordinators/Supervisors Larry Last, Mike Stephens, and Rich Antonelli. The "exposure aspect" of our camp is our main focus and has helped give many Officials the opportunity to develop and interact while being seen be ECAC's Coordinators. Last year ECAC brought on to our Officiating staff 14 new officials, all a direct result to the exposure recieved during the ECAC tryout segment at the NECOC. The ECAC tryout for our 2014/15 ECAC Officiating staff will be conducted at the camp by myself and ECAC Coordinators Mike Stephens and Rich Antonelli and assisted by representatives from CBOA. It will always be my intent to run the this camp with MINIMAL COST ($150) to the Official while providing the very best player talent for our campers to officiate. This is a day camp, which will allow us to keep the cost manageable, but overnight accommodations are available for those in need at a special camp rate. All games/courts are 3 man officiated, observed and critiqued. We will have video courts for all officials and provide DVD's to all from our A/V staff. Classroom instruction is always a highlight of any camp and we will provide some spirited discussion. The game film session will be provided by our camp clinicians and Collegiate Officials. My staff of observers will and clinicians will include some of the most experienced and respected Collegiate Officials in New England as well as ECAC Coordinators Mike Stephens (one of the nations finest D1 Officials), Rich Antonelli, and myself, Larry Last, Director of Men's and Women's Basketball Officiating for the ECAC. The opportunity to get this type of exposure by the ECAC's Coordinators/Supervisors, in a setting such as the University Sports Complex will prove most valuable to any prospective candidate considering College Officiating. I believe this will be one of the finest camps to work, while making it an affordable option. Please consider joining us this year and taking advantage of our efforts to give you something of absolute value. Please notify myself or Mike Scanlon at firstname.lastname@example.org or email@example.com respectively or download the application using the link below. Those interested in trying out for the ECAC should complete the ECAC Tryout Application. The ECAC application fee is $60 with checks made payable to the ECAC.
